I woke up this morning…

…surprised that it’s already Monday.

How could the weekend pass so quickly?

I haven’t been online since Thursday.

That makes 4 days without any connection to the new medias.

How did this happen?

Anyways the weekend was great.

It had a lot of family interaction in it.

And meeting friends, not seen for a long time.

Long hours of sun followed by thunder, lightening and rain.

Wonderfully refreshing after a hot day.

Now, I’m ready for the new week to begin.

We’ll see what it brings…

Week 10 – First loves

Week 10 – Discuss your first love and your first kiss

My first love was a guy from my neighborhood. We grew up together and were more like brother and sister which is the reason why it would never have worked.

We had a lot of fun, though and at one stage planned a house together (we were about 10 years at that time). It involved an indoor swimming pool, gym and hall to play soccer…

I have to disappoint you, he was not the one I had my first kiss with. That was some years later during a family vacation in Spain. The guy was from Dublin, Ireland. I wasn’t in love, but I figured it would be fun to see what kissing was like. I think he had a crush on me, because we was very persistent throughout the whole time that I should come and visit him. I never did. I went for Paris with some friends instead.

So that’s about everything that’s there to tell about first loves and first kisses. I hope your first love story is more interesting than mine?!

Ten on Tuesday

This week’s questions are a summer theme. I LOVE summer themes, so here we go:

  1. From your childhood, what do you miss most about summer vacation?
I miss most just getting up any time in the morning, getting dressed already in a swimsuit and head to the swimming pool immediately after breakfast. Lunch packed in a bad and knowing that I won’t go inside before it gets dark again.
The thing is, it’s not like I don’t have the time to do this any more, but that such days are getting rare weather-speaking. We seldomly have days where it’s warm enough in the morning to wear a swimsuit… Makes me sad, but I guess that’s the climate change.
  2. Are you going anywhere on vacation this summer?
We haven’t anything planned yet, because I’ll be starting a new job in July and don’t know if I’ll be able to take some days off. But we have planned a short trip at the beginning of October.
  3. What foods do you like to barbecue?
As I’m vegetarian I like to have grilled veggies or veggie burgers and potato salad as a side dish.  Heavenly!
  4. How do you celebrate the fourth of July?
4th of July isn’t a holiday here, so we usually don’t celebrate it.  But I’ll have a cupcake or decorate the apartment a bit…
  5. What’s your favorite beverage to drink in the summertime?
Apple juice with sparkling water. That’s a typical summer drink. The juice is sweet and the sparkling water is really refreshing on a hot afternoon!
  6. What movie are you looking forward to seeing this summer?
I hope we’ll have a sunny and hot summer that won’t involve any going to the movies (which is clearly a rainy day activity for me). So shamelessly I have to admit that I don’t even know what movie is on this summer. – Oh wait, isn’t there a Harry Potter waiting? I might go to see this.
  7. In the car: windows down or AC?
I’m the AC type. My boyfriend is the windows down type… So, wee’ll continuosly have a fight over which way to go.
  8. Have you ever had a summer fling?
Oh, yes, while on vacation.  Several times. I won’t say any more 😉
  9. Do you wear sunscreen?
On the beach or at the swimming pool: yes. In every day life: no.
  10. Do you have any favorite summertime activities?
Swimming under a blue sky, sitting on the balcony in the evening, listening to the sounds of summer, Eating fresh harvestet fruit or enjoying berries right from their plants. These are the things I’ll likely do mainly in summer.

Fitness Friday (2)

Work(out) for 6 days – rest for 1 day… or rather the other way round.

Yeah, perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to start the program right before a busy weekend, but if that’s the bar then I’d never start.

So, last week I successfully started into the first 2 days of the program and then arrived Saturday. I didn’t feel like working-out in the morning and I didn’t get back to even think about it for the rest of the day.

The same can be said for Sunday.

Monday came and my allergies hit me bad. So no morning run that day and unfortunately for the rest of the week. BUT, instead I slipped in a yoga workout. Nothing too strenuous, but some nice exercise that got my circulation running.

There is a saying that anything you keep for three weeks in a row becomes a regular habit.

So, currently I’m taking back with running for another  few weeks. Hopefully no longer than 3 weeks and I’ll keep to yoga and the 30 day Shred instead. I’m also considering going to the gym, because that would give me the possibility to workout and not having to spend any time outside that is longer than 20 minutes (my recent tolerance level).

Any tips you’d like to share about working out with allergies?

Week 9 – The Future

Week 9 – How do you hope the future will be

We’ve already had a question that involved the 10 year future, so I’ll do this a bit differently.

I’m an idealist and hopeless optimist. I hope that in the future the world will be more peaceful. I really do!

I can’t stand conflicts and while I acknowledge that on the small basis they are neccessary, like quarreling about who makes the dishes, I hope that on the grand scale we’ll find a more peaceful way of life.

Because life is precious.

About a month ago I posted a photo of our balcony, right after we had planted the herbs. It was about the same time that we planted some radish seeds. I forgot to take a picture of that, but you can easily imagine a plain flower pot with dirt.

Well, everything has grown and two weeks ago we were able to harvest the first radishes. And they tasted delicious!

Love the pink color

We have ever since also enjoyed some home-cooked meals with fresh herbs. Have you ever put some lavendar into your salad? Try it! It tastes heavenly.

I’m so happy we decided to plant the herbs…

Do you still remember? This is how they looked when we first planted them. Especially the dill literally exploded, you can barely see it behind the lavendar…

Baby Herbs

Do you grow a garden/balcony? Any success stories?

Ten on Tuesday

Let me just quickly mention something totally unrelated with ToT.

Have you heard of the WordPress fullscreen mode? Yeah, I still write my posts directly in WordPress. So, recently I found this mode of writing and I think it’s great!

You press the HTML button on the upper right and then on fullscreen and that’s what you get:

It can be intimidating at the first time, but as soon as you get used to it, it’s so much easier to concentrate on writing…

On other news. Here are these week’s Ten on Tuesday:

  1. Have you ever used Craigslist?
No. It just recently started in Germany and it’s not yet very wide accepted. So it’s the good old classifieds for me 🙂
  2. Can you sew?
Uhm. I learned it in school, but I wasn’t very good at it. I’ll attend a sewing class this fall, because I want to try it out again…
  3. Do you pour syrup on your pancakes or dip your pancakes in the syrup?
Pour the syrup. I never thought about dipping them, but I’ll try it out next time.
  4. Rain storms: Love them or hate them?
    Love them…
  5. Do you like swimming?
    It’s a love/hate relationship. I like swimming a lot, but I don’t like the way the water tastes…
  6. What kind of drink do you order at Sonic?
Can you imagine I have never been to Sonic? We don’t have them here in Germany, but a visit is on my to do list the next time I’m in the States!
  7. Are you funny?
My boyfriend thinks I’m incredibly funny, so does my family.
  8. At what age will your kids get cell phones?
Around 10 or 11, I suppose. I don’t think they’ll need them before and 10 or 11 seems like a reasonable age to me, where they might need them from time to time… Like when they’ve been to the movies and need to be taken home…
  9. What’s your favorite vegetable?
At the moment it’s radish, because that’s the first vegetable we harvest in spring. In summer it’ll be cucumber, zucchini and tomatoes…
  10. Were you a Girl Scout?
Don’t forget to head over to Rootsandrings and link yourself up and read the other answers!
